DAIWA has manufactured first-quality broadcast camera supports in Japan since the infancy of television. In the 1970s DAIWA began exporting broadcast tripods and pan/tilt heads. Over decades DAIWA developed a sturdy reputation for precise, careful quality control, and solid performance all over the world.

In 2002 DAIWA merged with SLIK Corporation, a company with over 60 years of experience in still and video camera support production. Both companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of KenkoTokina Co., Ltd. of Tokyo Japan. While this has created some synergy and sharing between the two companies, all DAIWA series heads, legs, and many accessories are still made in the same DAIWA factory that is known for producing durable, precise, high-quality broadcast TV camera supports for decades.

There are TV stations that purchased DAIWA tripods 10 or 15 years ago and those same tripods are still supporting their current TV camera today.
